so anita and i activated a month on one account and the other had a few days of juice left in it, hopped onto EQ2 made characters, using our names Grunhorn and Rikriki, over on the AB server where Zanadi of EQ2sday hails from, the most populated non-pvp server, and yeah, we got to leveling.
I'm playing a kerra cleric and she's running a fay wizard. this's the same combo we did on EQ1, but things're quite different over here. more people, no mercs, and the classes are much more soloable. plus the pace of the game is much faster and easier if you ask me. the whole thing is just a hell of alot more polished, it has more flow and the game just generally plays alot better.
There's already been a few comparisons to WoW, and yeah these two games came out about the same time, and were competative with each other. there's also alot of things that tie it to EQ1, that is of course its original, but its a sequel in many ways. honestly its interesting seeing how these sorts of things have kinda progressed, as the original game has also continued to release new material since the release of teh sequel. EQ's continued to released raiding, group, and quest content but in my opinion the latest few installations to the game have been lackluster and can't hold a flame to that which we'd seen in the past. no longer are the gradiouse and graphic intensive expansions being released for EQ1. its becoming more and more apparent its more the bastion of the more by the numbers by the book coders with little imagination and those more ingenuitive and ingenious get shipped over to EQ2. the talent drain is a shame because those boxes hitting the shelves just aren't worth buying anymore, such is the decline in quality. the game is still enjoyable but the releases are pitiful.
