so the new 51/50 server is out and live, available to the masses, and i'm itching to get involved. the initial readings are positive, with peak usage, a double xp weekend, and a plethora of swiss - mountain names to choose from for some solid sounding folks. i made about 6 characters, these i thought were the highlights. im growing to like the drakkin models increasingly, and the paladin armor really kinda made an impression on me. im liking the helm especially, and the name is one i really took awhile to come across and now that i've settled on it i'm tentatively liking this build alot. the beastlord is another that strikes me, over the years ive played with many beastlords, most of them being vah shir, but i did eventually run into an ogre that joined ss for a little while, and the guy made an impression on me. the armor i thought always looked cool on the ogre model, and the model itself is beastly which i like, and somehow the banished-by-the-gods storyline seems to work for the beastlord class, somehow primitive yet still menacingly potent, more the power of the wilds than of civilization. and why the paladin you may be wondering? well it has to do with the fact that ive played a paladin for 9 years and i vowed to my girlfriend i'd get into it with her since we'd been playing around on FV and test lately. i guess you could say im a sucker for special rulesets, how could i not be after 9 years, the regular thing just doesn't cut it for me anymore.
i've been on the road lately, driving to boston, and im blogging from a boston hotel, but im with internet and im taking this weekend as my chance to play it up on EQ using their new server. so look for me on there, ill be on, looking for all of you, and trying to have some good old fashioned eq fun hah. starting at 51 should be fun. its sort of like the testbuff but instead of to 25, its 50, plus with the added benefit of aa's. i took an initial look at my paladins aa window and alot of the key aa's are level limited so like as a tank clearly the choice'd be tanking stuff, but none of that is trainable at 51, so the strat may then be to level up first and open those up, and then afterwards get those aa's trained and work on further aa'ing perhaps, instead of doing the 85 and no aa's deal, i'd rather go 60 with 200+ etc. that's the key i think. the guy anita and i ran into on FV might not have been all bad, i mean jabbering on in a group is never fun but yeah, that style of doing it might not be unfun.
so i leave you with that, and these pictures of my new toons on mayong. hopefully fun will be had, i know anita hasnt seen alot of zones so this'll be a chance to do that, and otherwise, yeah. hope to see you on there if youre a gamer / eq fan. otherwise for those regular server folks, you dont know what youre missing people hah. its the excitement, ease, and all that jazz we've been waiting for.
