currently on guildwars
anita's running a... an elementalist, and i've got a mesmer. she's level ten and party dervish. me, i'm level nine and part warrior. i'm not sure the combination works as well, but it's suited me fine thus far. the games been pretty interesting for sure, and we've done a great many things together; having our pc's on the same desk facing one another definately enhances the experience. but beyond that, yeah, it's a decent game. i ran through the first expansion storyline before she ever got into the game, so i had my hands on experience with a level 20 monk before. it wasn't until trying out the second expansion with anita that i've more or less realized in this game that you can generally pick whichever class you want as your first, more or less basing it on the looks, whilst your second class can be for use. now, i will definately nod my head to the major hardcore community out there in that it perhaps isn't the best use of multiclass possibilities to simply ignore the ability crossover and play a pure class, but i'm definately having my share of fun with it. as a monk i had a few instances where i was called out based on the fact that i specced fire mage as my second class, and was told monks make poor mages. on that same token, i took out many many players using my elite combo. they never would've guessed i'd've been so specced ele so i guess that decieved them. but i guess when you come across someone in the pvp you can expect them to be either of their two classes, or even a hybrid mix of the two. which i guess changes things. but for me there's little that trumps the lightshow of the elementalists raw power. but with that all said, despite the fact that the story just dramatically ends and you're left with little more point to play besides pointless elite armor and guild halls will little usefulness but show as well as endless pvp of monotany, playing through each storyline has been rewarding. i've done two so far, this's my third, and first with anita, so it's nice to have company doing it. on the other two i more or less ran the majority of missions with mercenaries, and with the 3rd expansion, heroes. hero customization actually has been one of the parts of the game that's kept me occupied, well after getting the basics of running my own hero down. so it's kinda nice. for sure. not sure how i'd say this stacks up against old-world EQ, in fact i'd say it's a no brainer as they're not in the same class of game quality, but, it's an entertaining experience, and for the money, given there's no subscription fees, its nice. so yeah.
